JOB TITLE: Regional EHS Manager
DEPARTMENT: Platform Design & Construction
REPORTS TO: VP, EHS
SUMMARY: The Regional EHS Manager will manage in the hands on development and execution of a structured and comprehensive framework overseeing Aligned’s safety, risk management and business resilience programs and initiatives. Working closely with our VP, EHS and other key internal and external stakeholders, this role is responsible for cultivating and maintaining effective working relationships across Aligned’s portfolio in support of our rapid growth and in driving a Best-in-Class Safety program
This position will require flexibility in work hours. With multiple projects across the U.S., the Safety Director may be required to work overtime, weekends and nights on occasion with expected travel up to 50-60%.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities Relating to Data Center Operations:
- Implement and manage Aligned Data Centers EHS standards and principles, policies, procedures, and practices, including but not limited to; EHS management systems, risk assessments, assist with industrial hygiene assessments as required. In addition, ensure Aligned Data Centers complies with OSHA, Department of Environmental Quality, Environmental Protection Program regulations, or other applicable regulations.
- Effectively review, audit, analyze for compliance with onsite contractors, working within active data centers and Aligned Data Centers staff on high-risk activities including, but not limited to, electrical work, fall protection, material handling, hot-work and hazardous material management.
- Manage the Aligned Data Centers EHS plans for emergencies, threatening weather occurrences, natural disasters, business continuity interruptions, political and social unrest, demonstrations, and other unique events affecting Aligned Data Centers personnel or operations.
- Conduct EHS audits of live operational Aligned Data Centers data centers to ensure compliance with EHS requirements and life safety requirements. Meet with and fully assist the Aligned Data Centers operations teams in correcting deficiencies identified.
- Support and lead incident, near-miss investigations, and root cause analysis; develop corrective and preventive actions that can be identified, communicated globally, and implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate summaries globally of changes to standards and regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA DEQ, etc., to ensure compliance and proactive management of risk.
- Perform EHS data trend analysis, track KPI's of Aligned Data Centers EHS performance, and present to the leadership team to support business and EHS initiatives.
Responsibilities Relating to Construction Trade Partner Operations:
- Effectively review, audit, analyze for compliance risk elimination, reduction with the general contractor and trade partners for such high-risk activities including, but not limited to; electrical work, excavation, fall protection, material handling crane operations, hot-work and hazardous material management.
- Conduct EHS audits of Aligned Data Centers construction sites to ensure compliance with Aligned Data Centers EHS requirements, OSHA, DEQ., etc., and life safety requirements. Meet with general contractor management and safety team in correcting deficiencies identified immediately or in a timely manner and track audit data and correction and completion timelines.
- Represent Aligned Data Centers in the incident, major near-miss investigations, and root cause analysis led by the general contractor. Approve corrective and preventive actions developed by the contractor or trade partner to prevent incident and near-miss reoccurrence.
- Partner with the Aligned Data Centers construction managers throughout the construction pre-bidding and review and analyze those general contractors, trade partners, contractors' submitting bids and offer input on their safety performance relating to Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Workers Compensation Experience Modification Rate (EMR), and identify any OSHA, DEQ, EPA violations. Additional review of contractors' written safety manuals, injury prevention programs, safe means, and methods processes would take place, and insights offered to the Aligned Data Centers construction managers.
- Work closely with Aligned VP of EHS on contractor safety page turn reviews for those companies planning to perform work on Aligned Data Centers expansion projects or data center operational construction activities to ensure all Aligned Data Centers EHS requirements are being met. Require additions or corrections to their EHS programs, injury prevention programs (IPP.)
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following outlines Aligned Data Centers' minimum qualifications and selection criteria for the Regional EHS Manager:
- Possess Board Certified of Safety Professional (BSCP) certification which includes at least one in the following categories:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Construction Health and Safety Technologist (CHST)
- 5 plus years of experience specific to data center or commercial building construction and operations. This experience includes knowledge with EHS compliance and proactive incident reduction programs, EHS training, risk assessment (including job hazard analyses), compliance assurance, and incident management incident response training, reporting, root cause analysis) associated with data center or commercial building construction.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position may require working at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space or attic
